There are several ways to explore and discover St. Kitts and Nevis. And, you may do so at your own leisure in a rental car, or via the public transportation which includes minibuses or taxis. The ferry is also an option.

VEHICLE RENTALS

 
Driving in St. Kitts is on the left side and requires you to have a driver’s permit. This permit can be obtained from the Traffic Department for EC$64.80. Remember to keep on the left side of the road and drive safely.

If you prefer to travel around the island alone, you will have no problem in getting a vehicle to rent. There is a wide range of vehicles, from luxury cars and vans to motor bikes, available at several rental outlets.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION – TAXI OR MINIBUSES.

 
Taking a Taxi or Mini-bus?
Local transportation is available via mini-bus or taxis. Taxi rates vary, but fares are also available from the airport dispatchers, the Circus in Basseterre and from your hotel front desk. Note that there is a 50% surcharge between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

FERRY SCHEDULE

The ferry ride between St. Kitts and Nevis takes about 45 minutes and provides beautiful views of both islands. There are a number of ferries operating between the islands: Caribe Queen; Carib Breeze; Carib Surf; Mark Twain; Sea Bridge and Sea Hustler. These vessels work together to provide service, between Basseterre and Charlestown, according to the schedule below.
